Dear Cake Friends,
Wow! Forty years of baking have flown by! In my 20's I took a few cake decorating classes at a local craft store not sure what to expect. (Additionally, just out of school, I had been offered a 4-year scholarship to the Chicago Institute of Art.) I loved baking and seemed to have a knack for it. It allowed me to use my love for art in a very unexpected way. Early on, relatives entrusted me with making their wedding cakes, which, as a new baker, was scary back then. Many, many cakes later, I decided to bravely and humbly ask a famous pastry chef if I could study his techniques. We keep in touch and he is very happy that I am still a baker and is so proud that I have made cakes for two U.S. President and a First Lady! When I started out, I never dreamt the I would be honored in such a way!
I'm older now & my small cottage baking business is in Black Forest out of my home. I have little overhead as I do not have a storefront shop, which let's me keep prices reasonable for you. When you order a cake from me, I treat it as a work of art, made just for you. No two cakes are exactly alike. There are always little differences. I invite you to look at the pastries that I offer & to pick out your own dream cake.
Bon Appetit!
Chef Deena
